Esquisses
Decoratives
was
published to coincide with the International
Exposition held
in Paris in 1900.
It presented design details
from the recently constructed
La Porte
Monumentale as well as interior and
exterior
architectural and applied
embellishments.
The works showcased the wide
variety of disciplines
employed by Rene
Binet, an architect and designer in whose work we find the
influence of the International Art
Nouveau movement at its most
sublime.
The 1900 Expo was arguably
the high water mark of the style and Binet one
of its prime exponents. Here we find exquisite designs for buildings, tiles,
iron work, tapestries, tile flooring, stained glass windows, gardens, signs,
jewelry, murals and electric lighting.
An invaluable document of the
high Art Nouveau esthetic.
Unmatted.
